Nine of the 23 Things were new to me. It is too bad we didn't have access to this in 2007 when it was more up to date. As far as the future goes, we need to constantly be on the alert for web innovations and share them with each other, maybe VS could administer something for us.

I have been using Overdrive, NetLibrary and Project Gutenburg for my own personal use for a while. In addition, I have introduced them to customers. I have told customers about our downloadable audiobooks and listened to part of one myself, but I strongly prefer text.

I took a look at Podcasting Station and Podcast Alley both of which have subject directories of podcasts. I looked at a few, but this is really not my type of thing.

I've known about YouTube, Yahoo videos, etc. for a long time. YouTube is very useful for watching videos of events I missed on TV.

I picked http://www.etsy.com/ from the Web 2.0 awards list.  It is a place to buy and sell handmade things. There's a lot of nice stuff here. I bought some earrings - only 12 bucks.

I checked out PDF to Word which is free and converts PDF to word documents. It's great. The url is:

Thing #17 - Apparently, the Learning 2.0 sandbox wiki is now closed. I found it, there was no way to sign up. I think it was used only when people did the 23 Things in 2007.

A wiki is a web site with wiki software which allows multiple users to edit information on the site so that a group of people can author documents collaboratively. One very useful wiki is Library Success: A Best Practices Wiki created to be a one-stop shop for great ideas and information for all types of librarians. The Princeton Public Library used a wiki as part of their adult summer reading program.

After reading a few things about Web 2.0, Library 2.0 and the future of libraries, I hope that MCPL can be flexible enough and react quickly enough to technology changes which affect our relationships with customers. Otherwise, we could be left in the dust.

Technorati is a search engine for blogs. "Claiming" a blog let's one assign tags and categories to one's blog to make it more accessible.

I have known about tagging for a long time, but I did check out Del.icio.us and found a list of free online video courses from leading universities which looked interesting.

I liked this especially for online comparison shopping. I did have problems, though. Sometimes I got error messages apparently because the server was overloaded.
